10 reasons why I love being an athiest ...

  • I can stay in bed on Sunday without upsetting the big white bearded, invisible man in the sky.
  • Guilt free taking-the-piss out of religious nuts and non existent deities
  • Doing good for the sake of doing good, not because of fear.
  • I don’t have to waste time praying, involving myself in meaningless ceremonies, or donating money, time, and resources to any pointless religious activity.
  • Being free of the burden of religion and tradition and be able to set my own rules according to my conscience and common sense.
  • Being able to give my kids real answers to their questions and educating them that the questions we don’t know the answer to are interesting channels for growth and investigation.
  • Because I have the freedom to stare in wonder at the night sky and know that I do not know everything - rather than deceive myself with fairy tales.
  • Not having to say bless you after someone sneezes.
  • Hoping that the a Jehovahs Witness will knock on your door, so I can really have a go at them
  • Sex before, during and after marriage.

And finally a quote from somewhere on the internet …

Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
